Latest Updates
Home Learning for the last day of Term 3 and the Sept hols.

I hope you have learnt much from Miss Han's lecture on how to argue logically. The best way to conslidate your learning would be to apply the knowledge and skills and this is where the holiday assignment comes in.

Each of you will choose ONE of the following topics and work out an essay outline in the form of a mindmap.
Use the diagramming method that Miss Han demonstrated in the lecture. You need to label the Premises and Conclusions.
Make explicit the strategy chosen to approach the topic, e.g. evaluative, cause-effect, problem-solution, discursive etc.

Topics:

1. “Women are from Venus and men are from Mars.” Are women and men truly from different planets? (2009 T3 Common Test)

2. “New technologies have created a situation rather unknown in human history wherein the young seem more knowledgeable than those older than them.” To what extent do you agree with this statement? (2007 EOY Exam)

You will use the Bubbl.us to create the mindmap and essay outline. A sketchy sample has been provided for you. Your outlines should be as detailed as possible.

Watch this YouTube video to learn how to use the software or try to figure it out yourself. It's really simple.

I've created links with your names on the menu bar. Please upload your outline on the relevant page.
E.g. Lingfeng's submission page is titled: Exposition Lingfeng, Edwin's submission page is titled: Exposition Edwin and so forth.
Upload your submissions by the end of the Sept Hols.

Each of you will now flesh out your essays, taking into consideration the comments given by your classmates. You will upload the essay in its entirety on your own page. Please keep the essay below 800 words.
